1) Palatine- The Pirates won their last regular
season race at downstate Metamora. The Lady Pirates used solid but not
exactly regular line-up in defeating upstart East Peoria by nine points; next
at MSL conference meet 10/15- hosted by Rolling Meadows H.S. (Busse Woods).
2) Sandburg (Orland Park)- won the West Aurora Stampede by only ten
points over then #18 WWS (66-78) with strong line up in attendance; next up
is SICA West meet 10/15.
3) Naperville North- IDLE. Did not compete over the weekend; next is
DVC meet 10/15.
4) Wheaton North- IDLE. Did not compete over the
weekend; next at DVC meet on 10/15.
5) Hinsdale Central- defeated then #24 York in dual 23-33 in
dual meet on 10/6; next at WSC meet 10/15 at Schiller Woods.
6) Barrington- The Fillies edged Wheeling for the
Wheeling Invitational title; next is MSL conference meet 10/15 at Busse
Woods.
7) Edwardsville- Won Madison County meet on 10/3; won the
Centralia Invitational with a mere 20pts with ace Jamie Kanter; up next is
Southwest Conference meet at Alton on 10/14.
8) Benet Academy (Lisle)- won own invite over tough foe, then #9
LWE; at ESCC hosted by St. Viator 10/15.
9) Lincoln Way East (Frankfort)- placed second to Benet at Benet
Invitational; next is SICA meet 10/15.
10) Lockport- IDLE.
Did not compete over the weekend; next is SICA meet 10/15.
11) Lyons Township- IDLE. Did not compete over the weekend; next is WSC meet
hosted by Oak-Park River Forest on 10/15.
12) Cary Grove- IDLE. Did not compete over the weekend; Fox Valley
conference meet on 10/15.
13) St. Charles East- mysteriously held out several top regulars, instead running them
in the open race to the surprise of several top coaches. This would have
been a good match up against #2 Sandburg. The Saints finished a lowly 12th in the varsity race;

14) Wheaton-Warrenville South- placed a strong second behind #2 Sandburg at West Aurora
Stampede. The Tigers are rolling and should be ready for post season; next
is DVC meet on 10/15.
15) Stagg (Palos)- IDLE. SICA meet is on 10/15.
16) New Trier (Winnetka)- IDLE. Did not compete over the weekend; CSL meet 10/15.
17) Evanston- IDLE.

Boys AA Top Team Summaries
1) York (Elmhurst)- won final regular season competition over
Hinsdale Central in dual; next is WSC meet hosted by Oak Park-River Forest
on 10/15.
2) Glenbard South (Glen Ellyn)- won St. Charles East Best Invite with 24
points. A full effort was turned out by the Raiders in their last regular
season competition; next is Suburban Prairie Conference Championship 10/15.
3) Palatine- beat Fremd 16-45 on 10/6 to clinch MSL
West division title. Matt Smoody took top honors in 14:50; at MSL
Championship hosted by Rolling Meadows High School (Busse Woods) on 10/15.
4) St. Charles North- IDLE. Varsity did not compete over
the weekend; UEC meet is next on 10/15.
5) Prospect (Mt. Prospect)- defeated then #23 Hersey 20-37 behind
team leader Ryan CravenÕs easy victory; defeated Wheeling for MSL East title; MSL
championship on 10/15.
6) Sandburg (Orland Park)- IDLE. Varsity did not compete; SICA
championship meet is next on 10/15.
7) Naperville North- IDLE. Will compete in DVC meet
10/15.
8) Waubonsie Valley (Aurora)- IDLE. Will compete in UEC meet
on 10/15.
9) Barrington- closed out regular season with dual meet
victory over Hoffman Estates 15-43. The Broncos won on the strength of
their three-headed attack of Nick Farina, Josh Tomek, and Mike Laugal. The
team will next compete in MSL championship on 10/15.
10) Neuqua Valley- won the highly competitive Sterling Invitational 77-94 over
surging then #22 Schaumburg. The meet featured four ranked teams from
Illinois and several top teams from Iowa; next is UEC meet 10/15.
11) Lincoln Way East (Frankfort)- won the Benet Invitational behind the
services of Myles Scott-Stirn; next is SICA championship on 10/15.
12) Downers Grove South- Varsity was idle over weekend; WSC meet on 10/15.
13) New Trier (Winnetka)- IDLE. Varsity did not run; next is CSL meet
hosted by Maine South.
14) Wheaton North- runner up to then #14 LWE at Benet Invitational. A quality
showing for the Falcons as they head into the post-season; next is DVC meet
on 10/15.
15) Lockport- IDLE.
The Porters compete in the SICA championship on 10/15.
16) Wheaton-Warrenville South- without #1 ranked ace Jon Popejoy the Tigers finished a
quality second place to Downers Grove North at West Aurora Stampede. Kyle
Brady led the Tiger charge with his top 10 finish. Next up for the
Tigers is DVC meet on 10/15.
17) Schaumburg- placed second at Sterling Invitational. The Saxons are
emerging each week and should prove formable heading into the
post-season. Next is MSL championship on 10/15.
18) Benet Academy (Lisle)- 3rd at own invite. Team leader Matt
McCabe won race; ESCC meet is next on 10/15.
19) Fenwick (Oak Park)- The Friars competed well without #2 runner with 4th finish at Sterling; next is ESCC meet on 10/15.
20) Naperville Central- IDLE. Varsity did not compete. DVC meet is next on
10/15.

won 5 team league meet; Fox Valley championship is next on 10/15
22) Stevenson (Lincolnshire)- placed second at St. Charles East behind a strong Glenbard
South team with 90 points; next is CSL championship on 10/15.
23) Edwardsville- won the Madison County championship (10/3) with 31 points; won
Centralia Invitational; next is Southwest Conference meet on 10/14 hosted by
Alton High School.
24) Hersey (Arlington Heights)- absorbed defeat from then #5 Prospect earlier last week to
beat Elk Grove 25-36 in final regular season tilt; next is MSL championship
10/15.
25) Rock Island- placed a respectable 5th at Sterling
Invitational. The Rocs completed a very successful regular season; next
is conference meet on 10/15.

1) Caitlin Comfort (So.) (Peoria Notre Dame)- lost
to #1 overall girl Katelyn Bastert (Carthage-AA) at Metamora Invitational.
Comfort ran a very courageous race but came up short 16:49-17:01.
2) Haley Staples (Fr.) (Crystal Lake Central)- did not compete over the weekend. The precocious
freshman should breeze at Fox Valley Conference meet on 10/15.
3) Janna Mitsos (Fr.) (Lockport)- did not compete over the weekend. SICA championship meet is next.
4) Shannon Phelan (Fr.) (Naperville North)- did not compete over the weekend. DVC championship
meet is on 10/15.
5) Amanda Beggs (Fr.) (Lincoln Way East)- clocked a 17:30 at Benet Invitational and held off
upstart freshman Regina George from Chicago Gordon Tech.

regular season tilt.
5) Eric Dettman (Sr.) (York)- performed just like twin brother.
6) Evan Jager (Jr.) (Jacobs)- Did not compete over the weekend.
7) Kevin Havel (So.) (Hersey)- competed just once- placed second to
Craven in dual meet.
