*Week #4- September 26, 2005
1) Jon Popejoy (Sr) (Wheaton-Warrenville
South) - IDLE; will battle Luciano at Crete-Monee Pow Wow on 10/1.
2) Ryan Craven (Sr) (Prospect) - enjoyed
the best XC performance of his high school career by blitzing a tremendous
field at Palatine Invitational. The
field included the previously top-rated Dettman twins; Part Deux will happen
10/1 at Peoria H.S. Invite.
3) Jesse Luciano (Sr) (Willowbrook) -
IDLE; at Crete Monee Pow Wow against Popejoy this weekend.
4) Steve Finley (Sr) (Palatine)
- second thrice more. Finley’s thoughts
finishing second so many times this season: “I don’t mind if I get second all
[the way through state].”
5) Eric Dettman (Sr) (York) - suffered
first non-York loss since ’04; was not pleased with individual 3rd
place at Palatine indicating this: “I felt good in the
first quarter but who doesn’t but from there on out I was tired.”
6) Evan Jager (Jr) (Jacobs) - keeps on
rolling; won the Bartlett Invitational by over 15 seconds in 14:53 (3m).
7) Bruce MacTaggart (Sr) (Glenbard South)
- IDLE; at Loyola Lakefront Invitational on 10/1.
8) Luke Ryan (Jr) (Downers
Grove North)- IDLE

fine 6th place at Palatine Invite.
Jacobs ran well as he paced with the leaders through two miles before

- Back on track after an idle period.
Havel’s 4th place finish at Palatine
was just off E. Dettman.

perhaps the best runner in the south Chicago
suburbs, Adamowski strolled to victory at Tinley Park Invitational.
12) Matt Dettman (Sr) (York) - finished a
surprising 8th place at Palatine. Like his team brother, M. Dett was visibly
upset after the race but offered these consoling words to his fans and foes:
“We’re just killing ourselves [in practice] right now. We did 12x800m in 2:12; the last one was in 2:01. We also did [a gang] of 400’s in :62 on Tuesday. Yeah,
I’m disappointed in how I did, but I’m also looking forward to peaking.”
13) Dustin Davis (Sr) (Edwardsville) -
finished second in Hancock, Missouri
Invitational. Davis
narrowly lost to St. Louis University’s
Ben Murphy-Baum. Murphy Baum was an
all-stater in xc last year and track this past year (9:25 for 3200).
14) David Grange (Jr) (Marmion Academy)-
one of three runners still undefeated; won the Aurora Central Catholic Invite
in record time over 2.85m (14:24).
15) Tim Entwistle (Sr) (Stevenson)- debuts
very high based off of premier performances the last few times out, including a
monster 15:11 last week. However, the
performance of finishing fifth at Palatine just
validates his status.
16) Jacob Kolacz (Sr) (Naperville North)
- IDLE.
17) Christian Escareno (Sr) (Rolling
Meadows) - IDLE.
18) Nick Farina (Sr) (Barrington)
- step up his game with a top ten finish at Palatine (7th). Farina should be a Super 25 mainstay the rest
of the way.

Trier) - IDLE.
20) David Montgomery (Sr) (York) - finished
just a step back of M. Dett at Palatine; fortifies depth
to the max!
21) Matt DeSilva (Sr) (St. Charles North) -
IDLE due to ACT testing.
22) Luke Rygh (Sr) (Oswego)
- Ahh… the young man from way out west has been running well. His performance at Charger Classic behind
Grange is a classic.
23) Brendan Murphy (Sr) (Oak Park-River
Forest) - won his team’s invite in the late stages on a not so fast course in 15:33.
24) Ben Bouman (Sr) (Downers Grove South) - IDLE.
