The Fantastic Journal of Emily and Sarah

Although we took second by only 1 point, we think that most of us would agree that this was the best weekend ever!  I never knew that in one weekend I could get so close to people.  It was so cool being on a team with people who I had always thought of as rivals.  The relationships formed this weekend could last a lifetime!  We plan to have a reunion sometime in the future!  The trip flew by; even the six-hour bus ride was fun.  We had an intense game of Uno going on for about 2 hours.  Oh man, I doubt any of us will ever play Uno again.  My partner was awful cough, cough, Steve Finley, cough.  J/K It was super fun!  Once we got to Ohio we checked in and went to the course for practice.  The course was really nice, except for the hill in the middle of it, which kind of sucked ha ha.  The dinner was great and it was fun to eat with the team.  The team also had a meeting and it was interesting to discuss all of the different strategies because we are all from different teams.  After the meeting we all hung out.  We had a dance party in Steve and Ryan's room for a while which was pretty exciting.  Wait no it wasn't.  Then we all kinda split up and talked before watching TV with half of the team.  This morning was awesome putting on the Illinois jersey and warm-ups.  We also enjoyed walking around the hotel yelling "Make some noise, Illinois!"  We got a couple of strong looks but we know they were just jealous.  Who wouldn't be, we're Illinois!  Driving to the meet was pretty quiet.  At the meet the girls warmed-up sort of together trying to accommodate everyone's normal routines.  We all were nervous on the starting line.  When the gun went off we all started out in a pack before spreading out.  Overall, we ran a great race as a team, but we lost to Ohio by only a point.  After our race we cheered on the boys who also ran very well to a 2nd place finish.  The awards and banquet food was good and we all enjoyed the table settings.  Everyone got called up and received a great medal.  Now we're on the way home wishing that we had more time with everybody.  It was an amazing trip; I'm already excited for the reunion.  Most people are asleep and exhausted!  Thank you so much coaches for everything and good luck to all the future Mid-East Meet Illinois team!
