Illinois Prep Top Times 2008 Indoor Classic
New for 2008:
· Awards
· 2 Heat finals for the 55 & 55 Hurdles
· Host Hotel & Packet Pickup
Entry Information:
In order to keep all times on the leaderboards a true comparison, we apply the Fully Automated Timing Conversion by adding .24 to all sprints (up to 200 meters), and .14 to all other races. To do this we round all hand times up to the nearest tenth. For example, if a kid runs 6.52 in the 55 meter dash, it should be rounded up to 6.6. We then add .24 to the time and come up with his FAT converted time of 6.84. This is not something we made up; it is taken from Track & Field News’ BIG GREEN BOOK, which lists all conversion standards for track and field. It is used by the NCAA and USATF. We have also put a yard to metric conversion on our website.
Once an athlete has matched or bettered a qualifying mark, we bold his/her name on our leaderboards. This means that they have been extended an invitation to participate in the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic. Not all athletes accept invitations, but most do. It is up to the Coach and Athlete to decide weather or not to compete in the meet. Once a decision is made, please inform Illinois Prep Top Times as soon as possible.
The cost per team is $40 on or before Wednesday, March 26th. Registration after March 26th is $50, payable at packet pickup. If you are mailing a check, please have it in the mail by Friday, March 21st. If we do not receive your check by Wednesday, March 26th, you are responsible to pay $50 at the meet. We cannot accept any entries at the door from coaches telling us, the check is in the mail. Checks can be mailed to
Illinois Prep Top Times
2324 N. Kenneth Ave.
Chicago, IL 60639
If it is a district check, please include school name. We prefer online payment but if you must mail a check, please do so before Friday, March 21st.
4. Deadline for entries:
The deadline for qualifying is Sunday, March 23rd. Meet results from up to 3/23 will be accepted until 3/25; 11:00 am. The deadline for accepting invitations is Tuesday, 3/25 at 3:30 pm. If we have not received an acceptance by 3:30, we will assume you have declined. You may accept by email, phone, or fax.
As of 3:30 pm on March 25th, we will be turning off our fax and will not be responding to phone calls. We will not be returning phone calls to coaches who are asking to get their kids into an event. Once you have decided to enter your athlete in the meet, the Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal must contact Illinois Prep Top Times to indicate that they will be competing at the meet. We cannot accept entries from parents. An athlete entered in the meet will be representing his/her school. It is up to the school to allow the athlete to represent the school at this meet. This is an IHSA meet, and no unattached entries are allowed.
Probation: Future qualifiers will not be extended an invitation for the following year if (1) a school has committed athlete(s) or relay(s), and does not show up for the meet, and does not contact Illinois Prep Top Times to scratch their athlete(s) or relay(s) (2) A school fails to pay their entry fee.
