Team Rankings

  1. Winnebago – Winnebago easily won the Aurora Christian Sectional.  They look tough right now and I doubt anyone will be able to compete with them at the state meet.
  2. Eureka – Eureka really showed that they could be a great team when they ended up winning the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday.  Eureka seems to just be running better and better with each meet.
  3. Elmwood-Brimfield – Elmwood-Brimfield finished second behind Eureka at the Elmwood Sectional Saturday.  They have been dealing with injuries all year and just seem to finally be getting back healthy.
  4. PORTA – PORTA finished third at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday and looked to be in postseason form.  They are always given great coaching and tend to surprise some teams at the state meet.
  5. St. Joseph-Ogden – St. Joseph Ogden won the PBL Sectional on Saturday with a great pack of runners.  If they can put together a great race with their top two runners, they can make a chase at a trophy.
  6. Aurora Christian – Aurora Christian finished second to Winnebago at the Aurora Christian Sectional on Saturday.  They have two great front-runners and they continue to run well at the end of the year.
  7. Sparta – Sparta won the Edwardsville (MEL) Sectional over some pretty good competition.  Sparta really seems to be coming on at the end of the year and if they can put together one more good race, a top five placing at state isn’t out of the question.
  8. Tremont – Tremont finished fourth at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday.  They have ran well all year and could make a run at the top five if they can all put together a great race.
  9. Columbia – Columbia finished second over a very good Robinson team at the Edwardsville (MEL) Sectional.  They seemed to surprise a few teams at how well they ran at the sectional.
  10. Urbana U-High – Urbana U-High finished third at the PBL Sectional on Saturday behind Teutopolis.  They have been a team that has been ranked very high at times this year and should put together a good race to finish in the top ten.

Individual Rankings

  1. Olivia Klaus – Eureka (Sr.) – Olivia Klaus has dominated all year, and this should be no exception.  I look for her to run away with the state meet.
  2. Alexandra Palm - Winnebago (So.) – Alexandria Palm has looked strong all year long.                           Her only loss to a Class 1A runner was to Olivia Klaus and she will be looking for chance                             to get a little revenge.
  3. Stephanie Brown - Tri Valley (Jr.) – Stephanie Brown has been up and down all year, but I look for her to try and finish out her year on a high note with a top three finish at the state meet.
  4. Deanna Jimenez - Aurora Christian (So.) – Deanna Jimenez has steadily improved all season long.  She had a break out race on her home course at sectionals and looks to continue at Detwieller.
  5. Lauren Sible – Byron (Sr.) – Lauren Sible has been strong most of the season but has faltered a little in the post season.  Don’t count Lauren out for a shot at a second place    finish.

    Bago's Alexandra Palm

  6. Alisa Baron - Bureau Valley (Sr.) – Alisa Baron has run strong during the latter part of the season, but she did not really have a great sectional race.  I look for her to come out for a big race at the state meet.
  7. Katelynn Schneider - Winnebago (Sr.) – Katelynn Schneider has been a solid addition to the Winnebago team this year and she should continue to help them on their march to their third state title under Joe and Janet Erb.
  8. Megan Herrman – Havana (Jr.) – Megan Herrman finished second at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday against some very good competition.  I look for her to continue this trend into the state meet and make it into the top ten.
  9. Jacki McKown – Elmwood-Brimfield (So.) – Jacki McKown finished fifth at the Elmwood Sectional against some very good competition.  I look for her to continue running well at the state meet to sneak into the top ten.
  10. Claire Brown – PORTA (So.) – Claire Brown finished third overall at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday.  She continues to run well at the end of the year and should continue to do so into the state meet.
  11. Deidra Klaus – Eureka (So.) – Deidra Klaus continues to run exceptionally well at the end of the year and showed this when she finished fourth overall at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday.  She is a dark horse to finish in the top ten or higher.
  12. Jasmine Penny – Sparta (Jr.) – Jasmine Penny ran away with the Edwardsville (MEL) Sectional on Saturday against some pretty good competition.  If she can run as well as she did at sectionals, she could easily place in the top ten.
  13. Natilie D’Agostino – Immaculate Conception (Fr.) – Natilie D’Agostino continues to run exceptionally well for a freshman so late in the year.  She finished fourth overall at the Aurora Christian Sectional on Saturday.
  14. TeNeal Pinkston – Robinson (Sr.) – TeNeal Pinkston has been dealing with injuries for the later part of the year, but she looks to be gaining the form that led her to All-State last year.
  15. Michelle Mehnert – Urbana U-High (Sr.) – Michelle Mehnert finished second overall at the PBL Sectional on Saturday.  She is someone who always seems to run well at the end of the year and could sneak into the top ten with a great race.
