  1. Katelyn Moore (Jr.) – Camp Point Central (17-10 ½) 2007 state champion
  2. Kolby Hoffman (So.) – Dwight (17-10 Ό) 2nd place

  6. Chloe Trewartha (Jr.) – Dwight (17-6 ½) 7th place
  7. Madi Pranger (Jr.) – Carrollton (17-6 Ό) 8th place

Outlook:  This event is too close to call.  Jackie Cahill (Stockton) could also be in the hunt.  It is incredible how tight this event was last year, and this year should be no different.

  1. Kathrin Nosbuesch (Jr.) – Lewistown (10-6) 6th place
  2. Brittany Knodle (Sr.) – Byron (10-6) 7th place
  3. Rachelle Harbert (Sr.) – Pana (10-6) 8th place

Outlook:  With only 3 returning state medallist this event could be wide open.  Freshman Jenna Wensing of Carlinville might also be in the hunt.  She was 8th  grade state champ with a height of 10’0 ½ .

  1. Jessica Hemann (Sr.) – Breese Central (5-5) 2007 state champion
  2. Kendra Jennings (Jr.) – Camp Point Central (5-5) 2nd place

  6. Stephanie Denius (Sr.) – Fithian Oakwood (5-4) 7th place
  7. Alexis Atkins (Jr.) – Bloomington Central Catholic (5-0) 8th place

Outlook:  A healthy Caty Eaton might have been the favorite to win the title this year, but a knee injury in basketball may sideline her for the season.

  1. Allison Kereven (Sr.) – Oregon (40-9) 3rd place
  2. Alissa Patient (Sr.) – Macon Meridian (39-8 Ύ) 4th place

  5. Jessica Meyer (Sr.) – Tolono Unity (36-9)
  6. Leanne Spesard (Jr.) – Paris (36-7 ½)

Outlook:  Common wisdom says Kerevan should be the favorite, but Freshman Kelsey Card (Carlinville) might surprise this year.

Triple Jump

  1. Leah Orley (Sr.) – Benton (37-6 ½) 2007 state champion
  2. Jenner Sio (Sr.) – Rockford Christian Life (36-9 Ό) 2nd place

  6. Stephanie Denius (Sr.) – Fithian Oakwood (35-3) 8th place
  7. Stephanie Gallagher (Sr.) – Rockford Lutheran (34-11) 9th place

Outlook:  This event is Orley’s to win.  A girl who might surprise many will be Kendall Rush.  She did not Triple Jump until mid way through last season.  Her second season in this event may prove to be kind to her.

  2. Ashley Rojemann (Jr.) – Galena (118-9) 6th place

  4. Allison Kereven (Sr.) – Oregon (115-0)
  5. Alyssa Duffy (Sr.) – Mendon Unity (113-7)

Outlook:  Stinger will look to repeat as state champion.  Hoey from Tuscola could challenge for the top spot, but rumors are that Hoey has chosen to play softball only this year.

3200m Run

  1. Olivia Klaus (right)(Sr.) – Eureka 3rd place
  2. Kelly Curran (So.) – Bloomington Central Catholic 4th place
  3. Kortney Ellingboe (Jr.) – Warsaw 5th place

  7. Cara Feeney (Sr.) – Champaign St. Thomas More

Outlook:  After a strong cross-country season, we can’t see anyone touching Klaus this season.  She seems to be in a league of her own.

110 High Hurdles

  1. Leah Orley (Sr.) – Benton (14.80) 2nd place (pictured left)

  2. Katie Jobes (Sr.) – Lena-Winslow (12.59) 5th place
  3. Brittany Lowdermilk (Sr.) – Princeton (12.71) 7th place

800m Run

  1. Stephanie Brown (Jr.) – Downs Tri-Valley (2:14.36) 2007 state champion (pictured right)
  2. Leeann Michl (Jr.) – Newton (2:16.91) 2nd place
  3. Amy Byers (Sr.) – Carthage (2:18.53) 3rd place
  4. Anna Morgan (Sr.) – Aurora Christian (2:19.20) 6th place
  5. Kara Howell (Jr.) – Port Byron Riverdale (2:19.94) 7th place
  6. Jodi Hoekstra (Sr.) – Palos Heights Chicago Christian (2:19.20) 8th place
  7. Lauren Adcock (So.) – Moweaqua Central A&M (2:22.55) 11th place

Outlook:  Brown has already turned in some indoor times this year that better her season ending times last year.  She should be untouchable, and the race should come down to who will get second.

400m Dash

  1. Alisa Baron (Sr.) – Manlius Bureau Valley (57.80) 2nd place
  2. Tess Shubert (Jr.) – Okawville (58.30) 3rd place
  3. Leeann Michl (Jr.) – Newton (58.641) 4th place
  4. Jackie Cahill (Jr.) – Stockton (59.46) 8th place

Outlook:  Although Baron looks to be the favorite; we can’t forget that Courtney Smith (Benton) should be right there in the hunt also.  Smith missed the end of last season with a foot injury.

300m Hurdles

  1. Leah Orley (Sr.) – Benton (43.80) 2007 state champion
  2. Amy Byers (Sr.) – Carthage (44.96) 2nd place
  3. Tori Stone (Jr.) – Altamont (45.14) 3rd place
  4. Jasmine Jacobs (Sr.) – Mt. Carmel (45.63) 5th place
  5. Sarah Boraas (So.) – Sherrard (46.82) 7th place
  6. Sara King (Sr.) – Petersburg PORTA (47.19) 8th place
  7. Joslynn Northrup (So.) – Byron (47.38) 9th place

Outlook:  Orley will look to make this her third Championship of the finals day.  She will have plenty of motivation, but will she have enough in tank to get the job done?

1600m Run

  1. Stephanie Brown (Jr.) – Downs Tri-Valley 2nd place
  2. Olivia Klaus (Sr.) – Eureka 3rd place
  3. Kelly Curran (So.) – Bloomington Central Catholic 4th place
  4. Hayley Thomas (Jr.) – Winnebago 5th place
  5. Jodi Hoekstra (Sr.) – Palos Heights Chicago Christian 6th place
  6. Anna Morgan (Sr.) – Aurora Christian 8th place
  7. Karin Wirth (Jr.) – Pleasant Plains 9th place

Outlook:  This will be a great race.  Klaus and Brown will be going toe to toe, but don’t be surprised if Curran or Thomas slips in for a victory.

200m Dash

  1. Kimberly Spencer (Sr.) – Pinckneyville (25.65) 2007 state champion
  2. Lindsey Holden (Jr.) – Greenville (26.57) 7th place
  3. Brittany Lowdermilk (Sr.) – Princeton (26.88) 8th place
  4. Macey Black (Jr.) – Pleasant Hill (26.92) 9th place

Outlook:  Spencer is the heavy favorite here, but again don’t count out Smith of Benton.  Benton will be running for a team title and it may come down to this race.

Relay teams and team rankings will be finished when I have more information available on the teams and who is coming back.  Thanks.  If you have any information or results for Class A athletes, you can send the info to ilclassaxc@yahoo.com and I will include it in the weekly rankings.
