Girls AA Top 25 Team Recap Week #3 1) Naperville North- finished 4th at Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. The Midwest’s 10th ranked team ran without #2 runner Maggie DeBerge (ACT exam). Coach Dan Iverson didn’t appear to be upset in his team’s performance stating, “I have always believed that Hinsdale Central is the #1 team [in Illinois] hands down right now.” Next up for the Huskies is Wheaton North Invite on 9/30. 2) Hinsdale Central- won PND in convincingly fashion over a star field. The Red Devils scored early and often placing its scorers all in the top 30= 7,10,19,28,and 29. Lauren Zumbach placed 8th overall; next up is Culver Military Academy Invite (Culver, Indiana) 9/23. 3) Lockport- continues to play the mysterious role of not running a complete squad. This time two-time defending all-state harrier Liz Phillips makes her season debut, finishing third at Libertyville Invite. The partial Porter squad placed third overall; next is Oak Park-River Forest Invite 9/23. 4) Roselle (Lake Park)- won Forrest City Invitational (Rockford) over then #17 East Peoria; next is Upstate meet at Streamwood (9/19); at Janesville, Wisconsin Invite 9/23. 5) Barrington- (9/14) defeated then #8 Palatine in a dual 25-32. The Fillies went 1-2 behind Jr. Samantha Learch; next is rematch at Palatine Invitational on 9/23. 6) Wheaton North- won triangular vs. then #25 Naperville Central and Glenbard North; next is DuPage Co. meet on 9/23. 7) Lisle (Benet Academy)- (9/12) won ESCC Invite with 34 pts; the Redwings continued their winning ways with a decisive victory then #11 Cary-Grove 34-56 at the Kaneland Invite. The Redwings took the first two places as well as two other scorers in the top ten; next is Dupage Co. meet on 9/23. 8) Palatine- lost to then #5 Barrington 32-25 in conference dual (9/14); finished a distant 7th place at PND with 227 pts. Michelle Brunk led the Pirates with a 17th place finish; Pirates will be hosting Palatine Invite on 9/23. 9) Palatine Fremd- (9/14) blitzed Hoffman Estates 15-47 in conference action. The Vikings placed the first six runners across the finish line, led by Chelsea Bolton in 20:18; the Vikings won the Libertyville Invite (40pts) behind strong pack running (scoring was 5,6,7,and 8); next up is dual on 9/21 at Schaumburg. 10) Edwardsville- survived a scare from then #17 Mahomet-Seymour 30-33. The Tigers countered M-S’s Jackie Waldrup’s first place by scoring 2,3,and 4; next is Hancock, Missouri Invitational. 11) Cary-Grove- finished second to then #7 Benet Academy at Kaneland Invite. This is CG’s first loss on the season. Madeline Aufmann and Caitlin Wooldridge led the Wolves with 6th and 9th place finishes; next is Palatine Invite 9/23. 12) Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East)- (9/12) beat Bradley-Bourbonnais 17-45; placed a strong 3rd at PND with 174 pts; next up is Oak Park-River Forest on 9/23. 13) St. Charles East- the Saints slipped to 11th place at PND (329 pts). Star runner Lizzy Hynes finished second overall; next is dual vs. Waubonsie Valley on 9/19. 14) Elmhurst (York)- won dual vs. then #23 Lyons Twp. The Dukes went 1,2,3; vs. Glenbard West 9/23. 15) Tinley Park (Andrew)- “A” team swept Minooka Invitational (flighted) with 7 points. The T-Bolts won all levels including the championship round by Kailyn Kuzmuk in 18:47; 16) Oak Park-River Forest- lost dual to then #2 Hinsdale Central; placed 8th in PND Invite; next is hosting OPRF Invite on 9/23. 17) Mahomet-Seymour- placed 2nd in the Edwardsville Invitational with 33pts. Jackie Waldrup won in near record time on the 5k layout; next is East Peoria Invite 9/23. 18) East Peoria- after a two-week layoff EP got back into action with a strong second place finish at Forest City Invitational. Kim Gustafson took individual honors (18:23). 19) Normal Community- ran “B” team at PND that finished 28th. Perhaps, the Ironmen are gearing up for a showdown with central Illinois’ (Mahomet-Seymour and East Peoria) this weekend; upcoming meets are intercity meet 9/19 and East Peoria Invite 9/23. 20) Wheeling- lost to unranked Prospect 34-21 (9/14). Amber Stack won in 18:34; completed in Forrest City Invite over the weekend. 21) Chicago (Mother McAuley)- won Argo Invitational with 43pts. The Mighty Macs placed four runners in the top 10; next up is 22) Orland Park (Sandburg)- placed an impressive second place at PND. The Eagles tallied 150 pts, led by Kristin Sutherland’s 3rd place; next up is OPRF Invite 9/23. 23) LaGrange (Lyons Twp)- lost to York in dual (9/14); placed 9th in PND with 266 pts. Jane Simpson and Katherin Rehn paced the Lions with top 20 finishes; next is 24) Downers Grove South- won own invitational with 40 pts.
